The Postage Stamp Doll Quilt / Table Topper

The Postage Stamp quilt has a long tradition in quiltmaking going back well into the 1800s. Then, every scrap counted and nothing was wasted. That concept still applies for quilters today. So dig through your scrap bag and/or swap some with friends to create your own bit of history.

This darling quilt is just 12″ X 16″ without borders, still it contains 192 pieces of fabric all to finish at 1″ square each!  It is just about the cutest, littlest quilt you’ll ever make!

The PDF below offers two ways of making this tiny gem… With individual squares (if they are all different fabrics, you’ll have a Charm quilt) or with Half WoF strips. Whichever way you choose to make this quilt, it will be a showstopper. Now, working with pieces this small (1 1/2″ square) can be tricky. You must cut accurately. Keep your 1/4″ seam allowance accurate. Press at regular intervals. But you do all that with every project, right?

As most of you know, this isn’t the only free ongoing project on LynBrown. Com. There is the Spring Medallion Quilt, more of our Doll Quilt/Table Topper series, the Quilter’s Alphabet Block of the Week and our monthly swap/scrap quilt pattern. Browse around, there’s even more than that to see. And be sure to look at our Etsy site for even more patterns.
