Quilt Blocks for Hurricane Sandy Victims

Would you like to make a few Quilt Blocks For Hurricane Sandy Victims…

Erin Hutchinson, a quilter in Virginia, is collecting Disappearing Four-Patch Blocks (Like our Breezy 4-Patches) and assembling them into quilts for distribution to Hurricane Sandy victims.

Instructions for the block are found at: http://vesuviusmama.blogspot.com/2012/11/taking-action-wanna-help.html

Each block requires two fabrics – a small floral print and a contrasting tone-on-tone. Only two 7″x7″ squares are required from each fabric – a great way to use up scraps or some of those older calico prints we have hiding in our stash!

Stitch those squares into a 4-Patch, then slice 1 1/2” from the seams as shown. Turn the middle patches and stitch the pieces back together. Fun and easy!

Quilts made from these blocks can be seen at: http://vesuviusmama.blogspot.com/.

Each block finishes around 12.5″ and 42 blocks make a quilt. However, each quilt is scrappy with a variety of blocks.

If any of you would like to make and donate blocks, please bring them to the Acacia Guild meeting on December 6 or bring them to any Lyn Brown class or send them to the address on the website.

Thank you in advance for considering making a block for this project!
