The States Of Modern Block Of The Week 9: Florida

The great state of Florida is more than just coastline and Disneyworld. With a rich and varied history and lots of beautiful scenery, Florida is a great place to visit and a wonderful place to live.

States of Modern Florida

Here are a few facts about Florida:

Capital: Tallahasee

Admission to Statehood: March 3, 1875

Flag: On a white field emblazoned with a red X and the state seal, Florida’s flag represents the land of sunshine, flowers, palm trees, rivers and lakes. The seal features a brilliant sun, a cabbage palmetto tree, a steamboat sailing and a Native American Seminole woman scattering flowers.

Bird: Mockingbird

Flower: Orange Blossom

Largest Cities: Jacksonville, Miami, Tampa

For our block I have simplified the state flag, replacing the complicated seal in the center with a solid circle. You could represent that seal with some orange blossom fabric or any other fabric you have that might be appropriate. How about Disney fabric?
