The 2012 Iris Quilt BlockSwap

We are just about to break for Summer in my classes for the North Orange County Community College District. But before we do, class members have expressed a desire to swap not just fabric squares, but entire blocks, next fall. And so The Iris Swap begins…

If you are not a class member but wish to make these blocks, you can:
Dig in your stash for fabrics to make your blocks
Organize a block swap of your own
Or
Grab some fat quarters and start stitching!
This is quite a beautiful block that harkens back to the old Mountain Mist pattern days. The set will be reminiscent of that old pattern but just a bit different. We will utilize a rectangular snowball technique to shape the block into lozenges like the old quilts.
All the info for the block swap is on the two page PDF below. Class members have the summer to make 18 blocks, 9 with one color of Iris and 9 with another color of Iris. The quilt setting will be given when we swap in October 2012. It will include instructions for those rectangular snowballs.

In addition, there is lots of other patterns available on this site. If you need any of our Quilter’s Alphabet patterns (This Block Of The Week will continue through the summer), check the archives. And browse around the site for lots of other free patterns. We are working on our 2012 series of Doll Quilts and lots more swap patterns! And there are even more Patterns on my Etsy site.

And coming soon will be our 2012 Fall Quilts which will be the glorious and historic Burgoyne Surrounded (Supply List now available) and this beautiful Iris Quilt. And just posted for this summer: The 2012 Sunset and Vine Mystery Quilt Supply List. Clues begin July 3. Lots of great things are happening at LynBrown.com.
Here is the two page Iris Swap PDF…
