The States Of Modern: Wisconsin

Wisconsin is known as “America’s Dairyland” because it is one of the nation’s leading dairy producers, particularly famous for cheese.

But the varied landscape of Wisconsin makes the state a popular vacation destination for outdoor recreation as well. Winter events include skiing, ice fishing and snowmobile derbies. Wisconsin is situated on two Great Lakes and has many inland lakes of varied size; the state contains 11,188 square miles of water and so lots of opportunities for water fun!
Wisconsin State Facts:
Capitol: Madison
Admission To Statehood:  May 29, 1848 (30th State)
State Bird: Robin
State Flag:  On top of a shield on a dark blue field is the Wisconsin state motto “Forward”. Below that is the state animal, a badger. A sailor and a miner show that the people work on water and land. The shield in the center shows Wisconsin’s support for the United States. In four sections surrounding the shield are representations of the states main industries: agriculture, mining, manufacturing and navigation. The cornucopia and pile of lead represent farm products and minerals. In 1979,  the flag was amended to include the name of the state and the date of statehood.
State Flower: Wood Violet
