Repeat Revolution Week Five: The Borders
Can you believe it? It’s already time to add the final borders to our Repeat Revolution Quilt. Good borders make a good quilt!
It’s important to follow good border practices in order to have a square, flat quilt. The borders must be sized to fit the quilt and the strips for opposite sides must be the same length in order to keep the quilt square.
In fact, the first step when adding borders is to be sure your quilt center is square. To do this, fold the quilt center in half, bringing the top and bottom edges together, measuring them against each other. If there is a discrepancy, check your piecing for errors in seam size, tucks or pleats and similar errors. When the measurements align, fold quilt center the other way, bringing the sides together and repeat the process to ensure those sides align in size. Now you are ready to add borders.
