QUILT Magazine Cover: Early Spring

There are moments in life that just seem unreal. When I received an email from QUILT editor Debra Finan saying my Quilt would be on the cover of the next issue, I was in a state of disbelief. But after double checking with Debra AND seeing it for myself… It is REAL! And it’s on the newsstand!

Wow! This is so exciting! My latest quilt for QUILT magazine actually made the COVER! Wow! That’s my quilt right there! They are calling it Early Spring.

It is the February/March edition of QUILT Magazine (page 46). My subscription copy came in the mail Saturday and I saw the issue on the newsstand at the grocery store today. Never in my life did I think I would be on the cover of a magazine. And of course I’m not… But my QUILT is! You gotta go find this issue! It’s a great one with an article by Kaffe Fassett and a profile of Quilt Historian Mary Koval and lots of beautiful quilts!
Now about this quilt… I posted this design last May as Mod Framed! It was one in our Swap Quilt series. Super simple, graphically exciting and just a bit modern, this is a pattern you can make again and again with different results. The quilt in the magazine features fabrics from Hoffman International’s Explorer by Punch Studios line. That line and lots of other fabulous Hoffman fabrics (They make all those luscious batiks!) are available at your local quilt shop. The quilt was beautifully quilted by Jami Goto at Calico House in Yorba Linda, CA.

Over the Summer, I kept thinking how much I liked that quilt so I finally sent the design in to the magazine. They liked it too and so the process began. Previous designs of mine had been published in QUILT magazine (Cotton Candy was in Dec/Jan 2011 and Victorian Romance in February/March 2012.)

In addition, check out the new magazine called Quilt-It-Today, Jan/ Feb 2013, page 52. My quilt design, Sugar and Spice, is published there. Look for QUILT and Quilt-It-Today at Joann’s and Wal-Mart and QUILT is available at newsstands all over. So, again unbelievably, I have designs in two different magazines currently available! GEE!

In addition to this excitement, I will be teaching the Mod Framed!/Early Spring quilt along with three others this summer (2013) at Orange County Quilters Guild Camp Watch-A-Patcher. The Camp Brochure should be on-line soon so watch for it.

In the meantime, look around this site for LOTS of other dynamite gift ideas and other free patterns.
