My Central Coast Trip

I had a wonderful time recently visiting two guilds on the Central Coast of California. With the easy friendliness of the people, the beauty of their quilts and the stunning countryside, I was completely charmed during my stay.

The Central Coast Quilters Guild meets in Arroyo Grande on the 4th Tuesday evening of the month in a lovely community center on a little hill above the blue Pacific. CCQG is an active, embracing group. We had so much fun, I was thinking about joining the Guild!  What’s a four hour drive to see friends once a month!

The next day it was down to the tiny town of Orcutt and the well run and extensively stocked Old Town Quilt Shop to teach my Staycation quilt.  The shop was SO nice, I got involved with shopping and totally forgot to take pictures.  But trust me, it’s worth a stop whenever you are in the area.

My Staycation looks a little odd here.  We had added fresh blocks from the workshop on top of the quilt to discuss variations.  All in all, this workshop was another wonderful experience!  And it produced some fab quilts in the making… Aren’t they all grand?  Lots of color!

My Central Coast excursion finished up the next day with a great meeting at Olde Town Quilt Guild on Nipomo. The guild had just had a very successful quilt show the previous weekend and their  camaraderie and hard work were celebrated during this meeting.

And Debbie, who had been in the workshop the day before, showed the beginnings of her Staycation Quilt…

It was with some wonderful memories and a bit of regret that I left this gorgeous area of my home state. I hope to return soon! Many thanks to all involved for inviting me to these events and for making my visit so very pleasant.

Triangle Sherbet Quilt for Craftsy
The Triangle Sherbet quilt is so much fun to put together. I made mine all in flannel, but this quilt would be wonderful in any grouping… How about starting with a group of Hoffman Batik fat quarters! Yum! It’s easy so it’s great for a beginner and also a quick go-to quilt for the more advanced quilter. The pattern is just 99 Cents!

Hourglass Quilt for Craftsy
The HourGlass quilt is made up of scrappy reds with black and white accents. Or maybe you’d like it in Lime Greens… Sunflower Yellows or Bright Blues! Using a slick HourGlass trick and lots of scraps, you’ll soon have a fabulous quilt.  Just 99 Cents!
