It’s Time For The 2012 Iris Swap!

We’ve all been waiting to see the Irises bloom in the fall… At least in our Class Iris Block Swap!  This traditional block is truly beautiful… And to see all the colors that other quilter’s choose is just too much fun!  And they go together into such a beautiful quilt!

I love mine.  It is one of my prized possessions!

So I have written the instructions for this quilt, which needs 2 more Iris blocks than our swap, and have also given some measurements for a straight set quilt with 16 blocks. You can choose one of these sets or design your own!  And the blocks don’t have to be all put into one quilt… Think Tablerunners and Wallhangings and single block beauties!  Think Christmas Gifts!

The Assembly PDF is at the end of this post.  But before you scurry down there, note that this set is off-set by half blocks alternating from the Bottom to the Top of the Block Columns.  I have chosen to not Snowball these and thanks to Diane’s Embroidery Machine talents, I have some cute butterflies and other garden things in those blocks.  Think about how you want to handle those squares in your quilt.

The best thing about this quilt is the quilting.  Ron and Andy did a fabulous job adding leaves in the sashing and just making the quilt a real treasure.  And of course I love having signed student blocks in my quilt!

If you want the block instructions and supply list… Here they are…
