Burgoyne Surrounded Week One

After a whole summer of teasers and promises, here, at last, is the first week of our Burgoyne Surrounded Quilt. This is quite a historic quilt and offers quite a bit of piecing practice. The Quilt is not hard… but there is a lot of it!

The quilt is a true beauty, one you will be proud own, proud to give as a gift. Although it is historic (we will discuss that in the weeks to come) it also has a modern look to it. We are doing the pattern in two different ways… As a two color quilt or as a three color quilt.

You choose and follow the instructions for the design you choose. This set os instructions, our first week, is the same whichever design you have chosen. So follow along with us here at Lyn Brown.Com and make this wonderful quilt. If you need to review your basic quilting skills here is our intro to quilting basics which is a 6 page pack that covers color, thread, cutting, 1/4″ seams and pressing along with some fabric terminology.

BTW, our doll quilts series will continue through the year (The August Doll Quilt was a lovely little Log Cabin with lots of setting options) and there are lots of other great free quilt patterns here on the site… Like our swap/scrap quilt patterns and, of course, our Quilter’s Alphabet quilt block of the week which will both be continuing all year long.

And with this post, we begin our 2012 Fall Quilts which will be this glorious and historic Burgoyne Surrounded (Supply List is available if you missed it) and, in October, we will be doing the beautiful Iris Quilt.

Class starts again this coming Monday, September 10. Can’t wait to see everyone and hope you will bring in your current or last project for showing and telling! If you are not a class member, leave a comment below and tell us what you are working on!

Here is the PDF for the first week of our Burgoyne Surrounded Quilt…
